Free Park Yoga for our Nature. What I stand for is what I stand on.
I started Free Park Yoga in November 2016 as a way to give back to our community. It's been amazing to see the magic in people's eyes being able to move freely outside, being part nature. I have been lucky enough to see the growth in students and how practicing yoga in a new environment (outside) can build confidence.
The mission of FPY is to make Yoga accessible to all and help people to connect to nature. The concept is simple: Pay it forward. Anyone can come along and enjoy the classes for free of charge anytime or they can take the support they have had and try to pay it forward whenever they can by donating a Free Park Yoga class (cost of a coffee?). We have classes on Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime at Victoria Park, that funds the travel to New Lynn on Wednesdays and the cost of the collaborative workshops I have been doing with Plastic Diet and EcoMatters Environmental Trust, as well as the Compost Collective. They are a lovely bunch!
The more donations Free Park Yoga receives, the more places the teachers can travel to and promote the benefits of yoga and sustainability. There is no need to book, all you need to do is head to our Facebook page and click Interested or Going. See you in class!
